Momma and babies

Momma was posing for a baby bump photo and someone jumped in with her baby, too! Sweet.

Spring-like Weather

The weather here in the bluegrass was fantastic this weekend. It felt almost like Spring. Just a little tease from Mother Nature, I’m sure. While the guys were at a basketball game Saturday, Amanda and I went for a drive. We really didn’t have a destination at first, we were just hoping for a possible nap time for the kids. We ended up at Shaker Village of Pleasant Hill. It was such a lovely day for a visit. Also, it’s amazing to see the preservation of how the Shakers lived in the nineteenth century. We saw such beauty in the landscape and architecture. The kids enjoyed running and playing and seeing the animals. We are eager for more days like this outside. How many more days till Spring? The countdown begins.

Here are a couple of instagram photos from the weekend…

Nana Jo rolled Emilia’s hair Friday. I love this photo!

Emilia and I had a Mommy/Daughter date to Pinkalicious the Musical at Lexington Children's Theatre today. We read the books often. It was her first play and we were in the front row, so I was unsure of how she would react at first. She enjoyed it and was excited to meet Pink in person!

Dr. Seuss Celebration

“You’re never too old, too wacky, too wild to pick up a book and read to a child.” –Dr. Seuss

Reading is something we do every day in our house. Several times a day, actually. Emilia has a great love for books and it makes her momma and poppa proud. She’s been interested in her Dr. Seuss ABC book lately, and she also likes to watch The Cat in The Hat on PBS Kids. I decided that we would celebrate the famous authors birthday this year. We began with a couple of crafts. We made a hat that resembles The Cat’s Hat. As well as a One Fish, Two Fish, Red Fish, Blue Fish craft with handprints.

A celebration isn’t complete without food. We munched on fish snack mix (popcorn, goldfish crackers, dried cranberries and golden raisins). As well as, Cat in the Hat Smoothies (pureed strawberries and whipped cream), and Green Eggs and Ham (pretzels with chocolate covered Oreos and M&M’s). It was pretty tasty and fun to eat!

We visited Joseph Beth for their annual birthday bash, as well. It was a popular attraction which made for a big crowd, so I wasn’t able to get many photos. We enjoyed story time, craft time and seeing The Cat. He was rather tall and freighted Emilia, so we kept our distance. Best part was, every child had a piece of birthday cake to celebrate!
